I just "beat" 300,000-to-one odds...

...and it didn't (and won't) change my life in any way whatsoever.

But I certainly found it very interesting...

I have TWO separate meters for my monthly electric bills, because one is for the house, and one is for the "shop" which is 100% business-related.

Last month's bill, which can generate random due amounts that can end in any numbers, had both numbers end in $___.00

THAT is one chance in TEN THOUSAND, because it's one chance in 100 that "A" will end in zero, and one chance in 100 that "B" will end in zero...and you have to multiply.

THIS MONTH'S BILL ALSO HAD BOTH AMOUNTS END IN .00 AGAIN!!

OK, for it to happen in an one month, the odds are 1-in-10,000.

Once THAT happens, the odds if it happening in the next month are one in 10,000 AGAIN, so it's 10,000 x 10,000...which is one chance in 100 million.

BUT, ALSO, I have to figure out how many months I have the two electric meters. When all is said and done, and I move from here, I will have probably had the arrangement for 27 years "and change." That is about 330 chances (number of months) that this could happen, so I have to reduce the 100 million by that.

Result: STILL about one chance in 300,000 (of having BOTH meters, in ANY two consecutive months, all add to .00 numbers) when 100 million is divided by 330.
