I'm just using the handy-dandy little calculator feature here to figure out how long my turkey should be in the oven, so I can plan things around that, and have all the food ready for the table at the same time.
It's telling me it will take 31 hours and 15 minutes to cook.
Recalculate. Same result.
Weight of turkey X 15 minutes per pound and fractions thereof equals, and then ....
Ah, enlightenment. Comes the dawn. It helps to do these things when one is fully awake and alert and all that. Focus somewhat less on the absolutely fascinating fact that there are four quarters of 15 minutes each to the hour and somewhat more on the much more useful (to this purpose) fact that there are sixty minutes to the hour, divide by that latter number, and a much more reasonable estimate is obtained ... one which does not promise to result in turkey leather stuffed with a mass of cinders.
