Ever since I started working in my new company 5 months ago, I've been extremely satisfied with how they've treated me.
That said, I've noticed that there have been a number of "dead weights". The ones that work under me actually don't bother me so much because I can do something about it. But there are some dead weights above me that are starting to bother me a lot.
For example, there is 1 guy that's been with the company for 25+ years. He shows up early to work everyday. And that's about the extent of how he works. He just shows up. I've talked to my boss about him and my boss told me that even though that guy is his friend he's been having to deal with his underperformance for the last 7 years.
He never gets anything done. When there is something going on like a disaster or cram time to crank out another pay estimate, he just conveniently disappears for hours and would only come back after the problem as been resolved.
I've been working 65-70 hours a week to get my portion of the overall project finish on time with quality. And it bothers the hell out of me to see a senior not doing his job and passing it on to the rest of us.
There's another guy, also my senior, who is even worse. My immediate supervisor and I have not figured out what the hell he does all day. He shows up a couple hours late every morning and always leaves the office early. 5 months ago, he had a distinct job to do. Nowadays, myself and another guy have picked up doing his job, so we don't really know what he does all day in his office.
The last 4 days, he hasn't been showing up to work at all. My boss has called him many times but no answer. He's on radio silence pretty much.
We're talking about people who get paid 6 figures a year here!
I can already guess what most of you will tell me. You will tell me to mind my own business. How can I when I work for this company now and I want to see it succeed? It's like being on a ship together. How can I mind my own business if I know that if the ship sinks so will I?
