Conscience

The conscience otherwise known, as the inner compass constantly reminds us that there is another way to respond to our daily trials, which does not rely upon self interest, providing us with the opportunity to assist others.

While appreciating that there are a variety of opinions even, within the religious context I much prefer to speak to my own experiences with conscience, guiding me to make decisions that often challenge the rational perspective of my analysis of any given set of circumstances.

My intuitive sense, or the inner voice provides me with an appreciation of the bigger picture here, I am not just relating to the matter of right, and wrong but of the implications for me over the long term when I make decisions affecting me, and possibly other people.

For those who are unwilling, or unable to relate to the religious understandings of conscience, there is the awareness that our intuitive inspirations encourage us to make choices that set us at peace even, harmonise our sense of having done the right thing.

The inevitable questions remain: what makes us aware of the difference between right, and wrong is it the accumulation of experiences over a lifetime, or is there a more profound dynamic influence at work within human consciousness that serves to benefit all of man kind?

I am wary of those who believe that they possess a monopoly on all that is good, and righteous whether they be religious, or anti-religious for fanatics of all persuasions more often, or not determine that they know better than the rest of us...

Carl Jung's theories that speak directly to the collective consciousness of homo sapiens illustrate that shared understandings are the result of the human race having learnt that there is a very clear distinction between what is right, and wrong when the result reveals selfishness, the reward of the guilty.

There is nothing more dangerous than the conscience of a bigot.~George Bernard Shaw
