Hey guys, I've written a few stories in the past, mainly this summer, and then with the summer coming to an end I kind of got caught up with other stuff so haven't been on in awhile. Found myself with some free time and decided to try and write some again. This story, like my other ones is total fiction.
My Surprise New Life
Part I
As I pulled out of the driveway Friday morning, I was full of many different thoughts and emotions. Some form of adrenaline because I was leaving everything behind and they just didn't know it yet, a shred of sadness that I wouldn't be seeing my family and friends ever again (or at least not for the foreseeable future), but most of all I was extremely anxious to start over, with a life I wanted more than the one I had now.
I had finished all of my grad school work and would finally be ready for my career at the age of 25 and could not have been more relieved to be done with school. It was now September and I finished school back in May. I decided to go home for the summer and tried to look for a job for months with no luck at all. After a ton of dead end job hunting and some major personal/romantic confusion over the past weeks I decided to just pack it up and move somewhere else, not tell anyone and just never look back. You see, I was gay and in the closet. I had thought about coming out quite a few times, and it wasn't that my family would be the type to shun me, but I just got the feeling that they would look at me or treat me differently, and it wasn't even most, just some of them and that was enough for me to keep my secret all this time. I had come to terms with it, and am fairly straight acting so I decided I could keep this secret to the grave...that was, until I met a guy a few weeks ago that I just had some casual dates with which made me realize that I wanted that type of relationship. He was great and someone that I definitely could trust and was into, but it couldn't be him, not here.
My family lives in Michigan, and so I just looked randomly for jobs around the US, and through skype interviews and emailed resumes I got myself a job in the Seattle area, so that is where my new life would be. I rented myself a nice little condo, and when I finally got there after my long drive I immediately just plopped onto my new bed and slept. Monday rolled around and I had my first day at the new job. I was a psychologist who worked specially with kids of broken/breaking families. I normally would have appointments scheduled until later into the evening to accommodate working parents, but today since it was my first I was done around four so decided to head home. Now, even though I didn't have appointments, I still had tons of patient files to read over since I was taking on a ton of new clients. Finally at about 11pm I decided I was tired and was going to turn in for the night.
Just as I was heading up the stairs the doorbell rang, which I thought was peculiar since I literally knew no one here. When I opened the door and looked up, I was stunned. "Oh my god Pete! What are you doing here, how did you know I was here?" I asked part happy to see him and part worried that my plan had backfired and everyone knew where I was. Without saying anything he quickly advanced from outside in the Seattle rain into my doorway, backed me up against the door as he closed it and planted his lips on mine.
